माँ नहीं खरीद सकती थी टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल और ... 

 

माँ के पास इतने पैसे नहीं थे कि वह अपने 14 वर्ष के बच्चे के लिए टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल खरीद देती । वह पैसों की कमी से लाचार थी । बस दिहाड़ी मजदूर ही तो थी । करती तो क्या करती । उसने बच्चे को यह बताने का भी प्रयास किया कि उसकी उम्र इतनी नहीं है कि वह टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल तो क्या साधारण मोबाइल भी इस्तेमाल करे । और भला किसलिए ?  मगर बच्चे की जिद्द थी कि उसके पास मोबाइल होना ही चाहिए । आखिरकार टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल इस्तेमाल कर रहे अपने हम उम्र बच्चों के बीच वह पीछे क्यों रहता ? वह तो बच्चा था , उसे गरीबी - अमीरी से क्या लेना देना था । अमीरी - गरीबी गई तेल लेने । उसे तो बस हाथ में टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल चाहिए था । पैसे की तंगी झेल रही माँ अपने बच्चे की मांग पूरी नहीं कर सकी और उसके बच्चे ने स्वयं की जान ले ली ।

याद है 70 और शुरुआती 80 के दो दशक जब मैट्रिक पास करने के बाद ही घर का बच्चा फुल पैंट, हाथ में घड़ी और साइकिल का हकदार हो पाता था । जहां फुल पैंट मैट्रिक पास बच्चे को उसके बड़े होने का एहसास दिलाता था वहीं साइकिल उसे शहर की सड़कों और गलियों से परिचित हो जाने के लिए प्रेरित करने लगती थी । बेशक साइकिल तो कॉलेज जाने के लिए खरीदी गई मगर साइकिल विहीन दोस्तों को आगे-पीछे बैठाकर खेलने-कूदने के समय में कोई रोकता क्यों और भला क्यों ? वह घड़ी ही हुआ करती थी जो समय का एहसास दिलाया करती थी कि शाम ढलते ही घर में दाखिल हो जाना है और हाथ-पांव धोकर पढ़ने बैठ जाना है । बस बच्चे से बढ़कर किशोर उम्र को ही तो जी रहे थे । व्यस्क कहलाने में तो अभी वर्षों की दूरी थी ।

खैर , साइकिल की सवारी का मजा साइकिल विहीन बच्चों को भी रोजाना मिल जाया करता था । मगर यह टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल तो एक्सक्लूसिवली मोबाइल मालिक का ही होता है। और जब यह टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल इस्तेमाल में नहीं होता है तब ऑटोमेटिक लॉक हो जाया करता है । मालिक के अलावा इस टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल को कोई दूसरा टच भी नहीं कर सकता । तो टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल के लिए स्वयं की जान ले लेनेवाले उस बच्चे की मनोदशा की जरा कल्पना करने की कोशिश कीजिए बल्कि उसे अपने मस्तिष्क में जी कर अनुभव करने की कोशिश कीजिए । वह बच्चा इस हीन भावना से ग्रसित होगा  कि उसके पास टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल नहीं है ... कि वह उस पर गेम खेल सके , कि अपने दोस्त को फोन कर सके ... व्हाट्स अप कर सके ... फोटो खींच सके ... फेस बुक में डाल सके और न जाने क्या - क्या ! गौर कीजिए बच्चे को यह चुनौती उसी समय मिल गई जब इस उम्र के बच्चों में ना ना प्रकार के विचार आते हैं और कम-से-कम मन से उनकी क्षमता इतनी होती है कि उन्हें लगता है कि वे दुनिया जीत ले सकते हैं ... टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल क्या चीज थी !

किसी ने सही ही कहा है ... Since Teen Agers Are Too Old To Do The Things Little Children Do And Not Old Enough To Do The Things Elders Do ; They Do The Things NoBody Else Does !  

वाकई मोबाइल ने चैन छिन लिया है , जीना मुश्किल कर दिया है उन जिम्मेदार गार्जियनों के लिए भी जो अपने बच्चों की पढ़ाई और भविष्य को लेकर गम्भीर हैं । मेरे एक करीबी रिश्तेदार ने तो अपने दोनों बच्चों की पढ़ाई को लेकर इतना फोक्सड रहे कि मोबाइल तो दूर घर में टीव्ही भी नहीं चलने दी । और बेटा जब आगे की पढ़ाई करने के लिए जन्मस्थान से बाहर निकला तब उसके हाथ में बस एक साधारण मोबाइल था ताकि वह अपने गार्जियन से बातचीत कर सके । ऐसा नहीं था कि दोनों बच्चों को टच स्क्रीन मोबाइल पर गेम खेलने वगैरह की इच्छा नहीं होती होगी मगर दूरदर्शी माता-पिता अपने बच्चों को इतना एहसास जरूर करा दिये कि प्राथमिकता में पढ़ाई पहले और आखिरी है ।  निश्चय ही कई दफा घर में तनाव की स्थति पैदा हो जाया करती थी मगर उस तनाव भरे वातावरण में प्रेरणादायी बातें कर बच्चों का ध्यान मोबाइल से हटाकर वापस उस दिन के अध्याय पर केंद्रित कर देने में माता-पिता हमेशा कामयाब हो जाया करते थे ।

तो अब बात उन माता - पिताओं की , उन गार्जियनों की जो अपने बच्चों की पढ़ाई को गम्भीरता से नहीं ले रहे और बच्चे की हर छोटी-बड़ी सौख पूरी कर दे रहे हैं । ऐसे माता-पिताओं या गार्जियनों को यह एहसास होना जरूरी है कि एक दिन उनके बच्चों को खुद के जीवन की जिम्मेदारी लेनी ही होगी । उन्हें उस जीवन में प्रवेश करना ही होगा जिसकी जिम्मेदारी उन्हें ही लेनी होगी । तो क्या आप माता-पिता ... गार्जियन यह नहीं चाहते कि आपके बच्चे स्वयं के जीवन की जिम्मेदारी अपने शेष जीवन के लिए लेते वक्त योग्य हो चुके हों । उनकी शिक्षा पूरी हो चुकी हो , उन्हें अच्छे - बुरे का ज्ञान हो चुका हो और सबसे बढ़कर कि उनकी जिम्मेदारी समाज के प्रति बहुत ज्यादा है ... इतना ज्यादा कि कोई ऐसी हरकत नहीं करें कि उसका खराब प्रभाव प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से समाज पर पड़े । क्या इतना के बाद भी यह बताने की जरूरत है कि उस 14 वर्षीय बच्चे ................ समझदार को इशारा काफी है ।

वादों - इरादों के साथ आम नेताओं की जमात में सिद्धू !

रातों रात कैसे किसी का हृदय परिवर्तन हो सकता है कि उसकी विचारधारा ही बदल जाए ! कैसे कोई बीजेपी से कांग्रेस में , कांग्रेस से सपा में , सपा से बीएसपी में और बीएसपी से बीजेपी में शामिल होकर उसकी विचारधारा का अनुसरण करने लग सकता है ? इस हृदय परिवर्तन के नवीनतम उदाहरण बीजेपी छोड़ कांग्रेस का दामन थाम लेनेवाले नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू हैं।

कांग्रेस पार्टी में शामिल हो कर सिद्धू ने कहा कि वह अपनी 'जड़' यानी कांग्रेस में लौट आये हैं। कांग्रेस में लौटते ही वे बीजेपी की तीखी आलोचना करने लगे। उसी बीजेपी की जिसकी जड़ को वे अब तक सींचते आ रहे थे। हमने सुना है ... सिद्धू हमेशा नैतिकता की बातें करते हैं और एक से एक शेरो - शायरी के जरिए आम जन को प्रभावित करते रहते हैं। उनकी बातें सुन ऐसा ही लगता है कि वे आम नेताओं से थोड़े अलग हैं। उनकी राजनीति नि:स्वार्थ है और वे देश के लिए वाकई कुछ करना चाहते हैं। शायद बीजेपी में रहकर उन्हें कुछ करने का मौका नहीं मिला। लेकिन अब कांग्रेस में शामिल हो वे अपने प्रदेश का कायाकल्प करने की बातें करने लगे हैं।

कांग्रेस में रहकर सिद्धू को पंजाब के लिए हकीकत में कितना कुछ करने का मौका मिल पायेगा यह तो चुनाव के बाद के वर्षों में पता चलेगा। मगर अभी वे पंजाब चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान बीजेपी को मन भर कोसेंगे और वर्तमान सरकार की खामियां निकालेंगे ताकि सत्ता से बाहर उनकी पार्टी पंजाब में सरकार बना सके।

अफसोस है कि अब सिद्धू आम नेताओं की जमात में शामिल हो गये हैं। आम इसलिए क्योंकि आज कांग्रेस में शामिल होने के बाद उन्होंने ढेर सारी बातें की और कई सारे वादे इरादे जाहिर किये। उनकी इन्हीं कई बातों में एक बात थी कि पंजाब की दुर्दशा पर फिल्में बनने लगी हैं। हां, वे 'उड़ता पंजाब' की बातें कर रहे थे। पंजाब के नौजवान ड्रग्स की चपेट में हैं। उनका भविष्य अंधकारमय होता जा रहा है...उनका इशारा इसी ओर था।

सवाल उठता है कि इतना सुलझा हुआ इंसान बीजेपी में रहकर इतने वर्षों से खुद को धोखे में क्यों रखे हुए था वो भी तब , जब उन्हें यह मालूम था कि उनकी 'जड़' कांग्रेस पार्टी में हैं । वे खुद को धोखा तो दे ही रहे थे साथ ही जनता को भी अंधकार में रखे हुए थे।

अपने बेबाक बोल से लोगों में ऊर्जा भर देने वाले सिद्धू को बीजेपी छोड़ने के बाद कांग्रेस में शामिल होने के लिए महीनों क्यों लग गए ? क्या वे इन खबरों को झुठला सकते हैं कि वे 'आप' पार्टी में अवसर तलाश रहे थे ? क्या वे इसे झुठला सकते हैं कि उनकी बनायी पार्टी 'आवाज-ए- पंजाब' से उनके राजनीतिक कैरियर को लाभ नहीं मिलने वाला था।

दरअसल, उनके पास कोई विकल्प था ही नहीं। 'बीजेपी' को उन्होंने छोड़ ही दिया था, 'आप' में दाल गलती नहीं दिख रही थी, लिहाजा ले देकर उनके पास मात्र 'कांग्रेस' पार्टी ही थी, जिसमें वो शामिल हो सकते। उधर, कांग्रेस को भी दरकार थी एक अच्छे वक्ता की । सो बात बन गई...दरअसल कांग्रेस ने सिद्धू की लाज रख ली।

एमपी रहे सिद्धू को विधानसभा चुनाव लड़ने का भी मौका मिलनेवाला है। बहुत संभव है कि वे एमएलए का चुनाव जीत भी लें। मगर क्या पंजाब कांग्रेस के अंदर उनके विरोधी उन्हें पंजाब की राजनीति में पांव जमाने देंगे? क्या उन्हें कोई ऐसी कुर्सी मिलेगी जिसके बल पर वे पंजाब के उन नौजवानों का उद्धार कर सकें जो 'ड्रग्स' के आगोश में समाए हुए हैं। उम्मीद की जा सकती है कि सिद्धू ऐसा कर पाएं। उनके इस नेक काम में कोई रोड़ा नहीं बने। वैसे न भी कर पाए तो कोई गल नहीं जी...क्योंकि सिद्दू पा जी के लिए तो हंसी-ठिठोली-ठहाकों का दरवाजा खुला है ही !

       For some years cultivation of North India particularly that of Punjab was suffering for lack of laborers. Thanks to MNREGA which created opportunities for labourers to find job in their own backyard. It was because of this only very few laborers from Bihar, Jharkhand,Odisha and UP had to move out of station to earn their bread and butter in recent years. Alas! this favorable condition could not continue for long. Once again for the sake of two square meals labourers are turning to North India. Their POVERTY is being looked as PROFIT by North Indian peasants. Farmers in the region are expecting to have bumper crop this year by virtue of labour of these labourers from Bihar and UP. They are expecting once again they will have rich yields or say 'Unki Dharti Sona Uglegi'.
      Migration from Bihar and UP at any category have always been seen and debated in a negative way only. However, do you know many small scale industries had to be closed in Nashik of Maharashtra for lack of laborers only. Since Maharashtra and Punjab are reckoned in developed states; economic condition of even lower middle class are better than the laborers who migrate to these regions. How their economic condition improved ? Did not these labourers contribute to their prosperity ?
      Being in 'News-World' time and again come across news items from every nook and corner of India, be it Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh,Rajasthan,Maharashtra,Gujrat or Andhra Pradesh etc. that in a certain city hundreds of laborers are agitating against ill treatment meeting out to them by their employers.

      It is high time downtrodden are treated with love and regards and find themselves in main stream. Their contribution in road construction, making of buildings and other kind of structures, ploughing the vast field of the nation etc. are invaluable. Am not I sitting in the comfort of the house they made, eating food they grew in the field and drinking water that they made available through the pipeline that they put under the land miles and miles from this end of water body to right at our home. They must be given their due. Due in what sense ? They deserve respect, love and adequate remuneration from us,They are the very foundation stone of the nation. They have great achievements to their credits. Salute to them!

'Never Imagined Oneday Ranchi will host Oneday International Cricket Match'

Never ever imagined that oneday in Ranchi Oneday International Cricket match will be played and that too Indian team will be led by a Ranchi boy Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Yours truly belongs to the same city where Mahi was born and brought up. Mahi was playing in 80's while our generation had already played boyhood cricket during 70's. When Mahi would have been getting infected by cricket, Tendulkar had arrived whereas we belonged to the time of Sunil Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Brijesh Patel, Bedi, Chandrashekhar. That was the time of Solkar, Engineer, Prasanna in Indian cricket. Cricketing greats like Garner, Holding, Lloyd, Richards,Willis,Mike Dennis,Allan Knot, Thompson, Lily, Chappels,Turner, Crowes and Hadlee were dominating at international level.

Anyway, what comes in memory as the very first thing about cricket is double century of Sunil Gavaskar, 220 runs in his debut series there in West Indies. That was the time of All India Radio. Eyes did not have any role to play. We were all ears to transistor. We used to hear with utmost concentration bowl by bowl cricket commentary of Anant Setalwad, Sushil Doshi, Prem Kumar, Suresh Suraiya . And as the excitement in voice of commentator was felt so used to be our expressions. Together we shouted on boundaries, rare sixes, catches held out of the world and also when some famous batsman got clean bowled as described by the commentator.

District cricket used to be represented by Shaukat Hamid, Alok Mitra, Deval Sahay, Shyamal Roy. District matches were played in Police Line ground. Alok Mitra used to be a fast bowler. Many a time there used to be a grapevine that Alok Mitra is going to make it in Test Cricket. He commanded respect in cricket circle. Shaymal Roy was also an impressive left hand batsman. Daljit Singh and Ramesh Saxena used to play for TATAs.

All these players played in Police Line, RCC and MECON grounds. Apart from these standard grounds for cricket there were many more big and small grounds where cricket matches were played . There used to be a very good ground at the place of TV tower. Two – three more grounds used to be there near Police Line Ground. BMP ground, ground behind Welfare Cinema, and grounds were there in Dhurva, Chutia, Lalpur and Arvind Sporting Club at Piskamod also.

It was impossible to remain untouched with cricket when surroundings were hundred percent infected by cricket. I rather we (muhalla boys) began playing cricket from an early age of 7-8 years. Our passion for cricket was to the extent that we could not see anything else but cricket even if we were not playing it actually. In the morning our parents reminded us about what we uttered during our sleep. Obviously we played the game in our dream as well.

International , National , District Cricket inspired us a lot. We also formed teams at Muhalla level. Special about this Muhalla Cricket was that every one of us was an all rounder. We behaved at the time of taking field as if ourselves were Gavaskar, Solkar, Abid Ali, Karsan Ghavari, Chandrashekhar,Bedi, Prasanna,Engineer. Bombay cricketers dominated the Indian cricket during that time. Our wicketkeeper Kishore used to get his name written in score-sheet as Kisholkar. When not in action in ground we played the game among groups talking about cricket. We did shadow batting,bowling and fielding. We aimed to go to Mumbai and Delhi to earn name and fame in cricket. We were very very ambitious about making career in cricket. But as we grew we grew to know how important is studies. Our ambitions shifted to qualify in Civil Services, making career in medical, engineering line and also in business etc.

Anyway, our ambitions got inherited by younger generations. It has been achieved by one boy called Mahendra Singh Dhoni to its full potential. We could not go to Mumbai and Delhi to represent India in Cricket . Mahi has done it the other way. He has brought the international cricket to Ranchi. Some other boys-girls have also made it at international level not only in cricket but in other sports discipline as well. Cricketer Saurav Tiwari, world fame Deepika are excelling in cricket and archery respectively.

Coming back to international cricket in Ranchi. Excitement is at its peak among youths. The very news about Ranchi hosting India-England cricket match has charged the cricket lovers in Ranchi. IIM boys – girls came out with a procession in city holding flags and shouting India, India ....... Dhoni...Dhoni.

Construction of Ranchi cricket stadium has cost around Rs.180 crores. It has all kind of facilities for players. Stadium does have Gym, Tennis courts, Basketball court and also swimming pool. Stadium can accommodate 35 thousands spectators. A batsman will have to send the ball 75 yards away for a boundary. Ground fulfills the required international demands.

Credit goes to Dhoni who has brought the international cricket in Ranchi. He has made Ranchi famous in world cricket. Dhoni is giving back his due to Ranchi in an indirect manner. To realize dream of Ranchites JSCA 's president Amitabh Chaudhury has played a significant role. We Ranchi people are thankful to him.

I can well imagine the sight when Dhoni along with captain of England Alastair Cook will be going for toss in the middle of ground. Cricket lovers of Ranchi watching this game sitting in stadium will be inspiring Dhoni. Stadium must be reverberating with the sound of Dhoni ........Dhoni........Dhoni. Surroundings would be electrifying. We Ranchiites would be seeing the proceedings in person which otherwise we used to watch on TV, listening cricket commentary on Radio and reading about the outcome of the match on the following day in newspapers. I am getting impatient to listen that ear bursting sounds coming out from stadium in my TV. Yes, myself is not in Ranchi but can well feel the euphoria !

अहा ! मेरी सरजमीं पर अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट !

पांच ..... सात साल की उम्र में 40 बरस पहले ऐसी कल्पना भी नहीं थी कि एक दिन रांची में अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट मैच खेला जाएगा। वह भी भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम का कप्तान रांची का ही होगा। माही जहां पले बढ़े हैं उसी शहर का मैं भी हूं। माही खेल रहे थे 80 के दशक में और हमसब की पीढ़ी 70 के दशक में खेल चुकी थी। माही ने जब होश संभाला होगा तब तेंदुलकर का पदार्पण हो चुका था और इधर 70 के दशक में गावस्कर धूम मचा रहे थे। वह जमाना सोलकर, विश्वनाथ,इंजीनियर, बेदी, चंद्रशेखर, प्रसन्ना का था । तब का समय गार्नर,होल्डिंग, लॉयड, रिचर्ड्स, विलिस,माईक डेनीस,एलन नॉट,थॉम्पसन,लिली,चैपल,टर्नर,क्रो और हेडली जैसे महान क्रिकेटरों का था ।

खैर, क्रिकेट से जुड़ी हुई कोई पहली बात याद आती है तो वो है गावस्कर के 220 रन जो उन्होंने वेस्ट इंडीज दौरे पर अपने डेबु सीरिज में बनाया था। तब रेडियो कमेंट्री का जमाना था। आंखों की कोई भूमिका नहीं थी बस कानों को छानकर हम रेडियो से सट जाया करते थे। हर एक गेंद का ब्योरा कमेंटेटर सुशील दोषी, प्रेम कुमार, अनंत सेटलवाड, सुरेश सुरैया आदि से सुनने को मिलता था। घड़ी-घड़ी हम चौंका करते थे किसी चौके पर या फिर कभी-कभी ही लगनेवाले छक्कों पर।

उस समय रांची जिला क्रिकेट का प्रतिनिधित्व शौकत हामिद, आलोक मित्रा, देवल सहाय, श्यामल रॉय जैसे खिलाड़ी किया करते थे। डिस्ट्रिक्ट मैच रांची-धनबाद, रांची-पटना के बीच पुलिस लाईन मैदान में खेले जाते थे। आलोक मित्रा तेज गेंदबाजों में से एक थे। कई बार जोर-शोर से चर्चा सुनने को मिलती थी कि इंडियन टेस्ट टीम में उनका सेलेक्शन बस होने ही को है। श्यामल रॉय भी एक प्रतिभाशाली वामहस्त बल्लेबाज थे। रमेश सक्सेना (टाटा), दलजीत सिंह (टाटा) भी काफी चर्चित खिलाड़ी थे।

ये सारे खिलाड़ी क्रिकेट के लिए उपयुक्त पुलिस लाईन , आरसीसी और मेकॉन के मैदानों में खेला करते थे। इन मैदानों के अतिरिक्त भी कई मैदान हुआ करते थे जिनमें प्राय: हर रविवार को क्रिकेट मैच गम्भीरता से खेले जाते थे। टीव्ही टॉवर की जगह एक शानदार मैदान हुआ करता था। पुलिस लाईन के मुख्य मैदान से सटे दो-तीन मैदान थे। बीएमपी ग्राउंड, वेलफेयर सिनेमा के पीछे, धुर्वा, चुटिया,लालपुर कोकर अरविंद स्पोर्टिंग पिस्कामोड़ हर तरफ मैदान थे और हर रविवार को मैच खेले जाते थे।

ऐसे माहौल में हमारी पीढ़ी का अछूता बने रहना मुमकिन नहीं था। सात-आठ साल की उम्र में हम क्रिकेट खेलने लगे थे। क्रिकेट के साथ दीवानगी तो इस हद तक हो गई थी कि क्रिकेट के अलावा जीवन में कुछ सूझता ही नहीं था । जब बैट-बॉल हाथों में नहीं होता था तो हम दिमागी क्रिकेट खेल रहे होते थे। सोचते कि उस गेंद को हम स्ट्रेट बैट क्यों नहीं खेले, फार्वड जाने के बजाय गेंद को बैकफूट पर क्यों खेले और जहां रन नहीं था वहां क्यों दौड़े रन आउट होने के लिए। वैसे कवर में लगाये गये तीन चौके शानदार रहे। ऐसे ही बल्लेबाज को स्ट्रोक खेलने के लिए हम कमजोर गेंद क्यों फेंकते गये और जब पिछला बल्लेबाज आक्रामक हो रहा था तब उसे यॉर्कर के जरिए कैसे बोल्ड कर दिया था। वाकई साथी खिलाड़ी ने स्लीप में अच्छे कैच लपके।

विदेश, देश और जिला स्तर के क्रिकेटरों के खेल की कमेंट्री रेडियो पर सुन, पत्रिकाओं में पढ़ और जिला स्तर के क्रिकेटरों के मैच देख हम मुहल्लेवाले भी टीम बनाकर रोज मैच खेला करते थे। इस मुहल्ला क्रिकेट में रोचकता यही थी कि हर खिलाड़ी प्राय: ऑलराउंडर हुआ करता था । हर लड़का खुद को गावस्कर,सोलकर,आबिद अली, करसन घावरी,चंद्रशेखर,प्रसन्ना,बेदी, फारूख इंजीनियर से कम नहीं समझता था। उन दिनों बॉम्बे के क्रिकेटरों का इतना वर्चस्व था कि, किशोर नाम का हमारा विकेटकीपर स्कोर-शीट में अपना नाम किशोलकर लिखवाया करता था।

क्रिकेट की दीवनगी तो इस हद तक थी कि घर में, रास्ते में और फुर्सत के हर पल में दिमाग में क्रिकेट ही चलता रहता था। शैडो बैटिंग और शैडो बाउलिंग खूब किया करते थे। तब हम बम्बई और दिल्ली जाकर क्रिकेट में नाम कमाने की महत्त्वाकांक्षा रखते थे। 

उस महत्त्वकांक्षा को रांची के लाल माही ........ हां धोनी ने पूरा कर दिया है। माही मुंबई और दिल्ली से क्रिकेट को निकालकर रांची लेकर आ गये हैं।

रांची में एकदिवसीय मैच को लेकर नौजवानों में खासा उत्साह देखा जा रहा है। आईआईएम के लड़के-लड़कियों ने रोड शो किया।180 करोड़ की लागत से बने इस स्टेडियम में खिलाड़ियों के लिए हर सुख-सुविधा उपलब्ध है। स्टेडियम में जिम के अलावा टेनिस,बॉस्केटबॉल कोर्ट और स्वीमिंग पुल भी है। मैच का आनंद35 हजार लोग ले सकते हैं। क्रिकेट के अंतरराष्ट्रीय मापदंड को पूरा करते इस मैदान में बल्लेबाज को चौका या छक्का के लिए गेंद को पूरे 75 गज दूर धकेलना होगा। इस डे-नाईट मैच को देखने के लिए स्टेडियम के अंदर दर्शक 37 भिन्न गेट से जा सकते हैं। देश भर के स्टेडियमों में से रांची का यह स्टेडियम भी किसी भी लिहाज से कम नहीं।

पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी क्रिकेट को जुनून की तरह खेलते रहने का ही यह नतीजा है कि आज भारत और इंग्लैंड के बीच एक मैच रांची में खेला जाएगा।

रांची को विश्व प्रसिद्ध बनाने और रांची में अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट को लेकर आने का श्रेय महेंद्र सिंह धोनी को ही देना होगा। झारखंड स्टेट क्रिकेट एसोसिएशन को धोनी ने अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से सहयोग कर अपनी जन्मस्थली रांची के प्रति ऋण उतारने का प्रयास किया है। धोनी के इस सपने को पूरा करने में झारखंड स्टेट क्रिकेट एसोसिएशन के अध्यक्ष अमिताभ चौधरी जी जान से लगे रहे। शुरुआत में फुटबॉल और बैडमिंटन की तरफ रुझान रखनेवाले धोनी जब इंग्लैंड के कप्तान के साथ पिच पर जाएंगे टॉस करने के लिए तब रांचीवासी उनका हौसला अफजाई कर रहे होंगे। एक सुर में धोनी......धोनी......धोनी की आवाज गुंजायमान होगी । वातावरण में बिजली दौड़ रही होगी और हम रांचीवासी वह सबकुछ प्रत्यक्षरूप से देखने के भागी बनेंगे जो अबतक टीव्ही पर देखा , रेडियो पर सुना और अखबारों में पढ़ा करते थे । भले ही सिर्फ टीव्ही पर, लेकिन स्टेडियम की उस कानफाड़ू आवाज को सुनने को मैं बेताब हूं । 

I  want to keep batting….Jab Tak Hai Jaan !!

'I still remember a 16-year-old Sachin playing his first match against us in Peshawar. He hit a couple of sixes off Abdul Quadir. Even at that time you could say that the guy had lot of talent and over the years the way he has carried himself, he has been a great ambassador of cricket for India .’ This is what former Pakistan cricket captain Intikhab Alam observed recently when he was in Kolkata.

Reading Intikhab Alam's feelings about Tendulkar in a national daily I was reminded of my own letter, which appeared in The Indian Post, edited by Vinod Mehta, a broadsheet daily published from Mumbai in the late 80's. Text of the letter was as follows -:

“Since teenagers are too old to do the things little children do and not old enough to do the things elders do; they do the things nobody else does. It was precisely what Sachin Tendulkar had done when he made his debut in international cricket way back in 1989 in Pakistan. In a limited over cricket match blasting Abdul Quadir, he had plundered 26 runs in a single over.”

I am also reminded of the moments when I spoke with Sachin in the very first year of this century i.e. 2001.

This was a telephonic talk , when he was half way down the TIME of his 'cricket career' . To be accurate, it was April 20, 2001. The occasion was him turning 28, which also coincided with his completing a YUG (12 years is equivalent to a YUG) playing cricket at the international level . On this special occasion I had been trying over phone for an appointment with him. Every time my call to him at his residence was taken by his better half. Every time, Sachin happened to be out of station and when I could finally catch him on the phone, he was preparing to go out of station yet again. That was the time when I requested him to spare fifteen-twenty minutes over the phone itself, to speak about his Cricket. And he agreed. Excerpts of the talk with Tendulkar ....

How does it feel to have played for the nation for a YUG ? Standing here how do you look back at your career ?

It feels great to have played for the country for over a decade. It is a long period indeed. I must tell you that I have enjoyed my cricket all these years. I always wanted to play cricket and I am happy that I am playing. My dream of playing cricket at the highest level has come true.

Sachin, 12 years is a long period. How do you look at your achievements? What have you gained?

Ever since, I started playing, it has been nothing but gain in every sense of the word. Playing a game that I am so deeply passionate about; playing for 12 years and playing at the highest level. What can be greater than playing for one's country. On my part, I have put in a lot of hard work and cricket has amply rewarded me.

What do you have to say about your contribution to Cricket ? How do you look at it?

It is not for me to talk about that. I have done my level best on the ground as a batsman, as a bowler, as a fielder and also as a captain. You may say that is my contribution to cricket. But at the end of the day, it is for others to think and evaluate my contribution to the game of cricket. Really it is not for me to tell.

After wearing the much coveted India CAP in November, 1989, did you ever think that your cricket career would span these many years and that you would still be going strong?

At the time of making my debut, I had taken that as an opportunity to perform and get in the reckoning for the future. I did not create any kind of pressure on me. I just decided to go and play my natural game. I think I succeeded in that. Then I decided to perform season by season. I have been doing well and being guided by this thought only, I have come this far.

How has your family contributed to your success ? What has been the role of Mr. Ajit, your brother, in making a successful cricketer out of Sachin Tendulkar ?

Without the support of my elder brother Ajit and my parents and every other member of the family, it would not have been possible for me to test success after success in world cricket. I am indebted to them. Also, my wife has been very supportive. After every piece of my success she told me that there were more to come. She has been encouraging and guiding me all these years.

Over the years, your teammates Dravid, Kumble, Kambli, Ranade etc. and your guru and gurukanya (coach's daughter) Kalpana have spoken highly about you. They all have wished more success for you. Would you like to share your feelings in this regard?

Regards to my coach Ramakart Achrekar. Without his teachings and guidance Sachin Tendulkar would not have been around. I am also thankful to my teammates and friends. All have been helpful to me. They are my well wishers and have really backed me to perform. I am extremely thankful to them.

The whole Nation is wishing Happy Birthday Sachin . How do you take that ?

I am well aware of that. Cricket lovers and my admirers, all have been praying for me and wishing me to perform. It is the good wishes of the whole country that my cricket career has become so successful. I am touched by their constant support and good wishes. They have really inspired me to perform.

That is where my brief interview came to an end and now, as I am poised to post it on my BLOG, news has already trickled in that Sachin scored his 80^th first class century in Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy quarter final against Baroda. It is as if Sachin's heart has cried one more time to the whole world – I want to keep batting…….Jab Tak Hai Jaan !
